Peacefully picketing business premises when you've been ripped off

Have any of you done it?

Did it work?

Are there any legal issues I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance.

Just to put it in context - goods were faulty and trader promised to replace them but didn't. Plus he kept the faulty one and the stamped addressed jiffy bag sent for him to replace the item at no cost to himself. Goods were a present for 81 year old relative. Shabby frown.gif

Thinking I might be able to shame him into replacing the item or at the very least warn potential customers during his upcoming exhibition.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

Peace, love and labradors!

Did a protest at a garage, towed the car to the road outside the garage with a big notice. Threatened them with local press as well. They agreed to repair it next day.

Legal issue - yes. If you are causing a nuisance the police can be called the same as if you peacefully protected outside a neighbours house.

However, given how shabby he has been I would hope he would back down. (hopefully)

I would if you can buy those giant "don't trust this man" posters with an arrow on off Trigger Happy TV??? That would be good for you!

Could you not quite the sale of goods act & trading standards at him etc...

The trader/owner of the property and co. have the right to ask you to leave private property -then to assist you to leave if you refuse (even physically taking hold of you ,using reasonable force).A public pavement is a different thing though.

The Police could arrest you for behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace( and,for example,if they thought you were angry enough to eg put a brick through his window, they could arrest you to prevent you doing similar, even if you didnt-its open to their interpretation).Depends on the "attitude" of the PC or (if he/she is having a bad day) if they were called, generally they arent too interested in this kind of thing, and unless you were being reall @rsy with them ,probably wouldnt want to know. Some retailers have the idea the Police are there to do their dirty work-but its not true.
Do you have proof the trader received the article?

Good thinking Tim but its cold at the end of November. I'd need a hot water bottle.

Terry - tried Trading Standards - situation is still ongoing.

Hollydays - I'm a Special Constable. I'd most likely ring up their local nick before I set off to tell them what I was doing.
