“Account settled” - meaning?

I am looking at the MSE Credit Club Credit Report (Experian) and I see a number of old debts marked with settled dates but I’m not 100% sure what this means.

For example, I have one for Lowell Portfolio Ltd. It says that the account was started in May 2011 and then it says “Account settled 31/12/2013”. It says the account is “Default/Ended” and the balance is £1011.44.

I have six of these with different companies, none of them larger than about £1500, they all say “Default/Ended” and have settled dates. But I’m still being chased by one or two of them, albeit politely.

Can anyone tell me what “Account settled” really means in this case? Does it mean anything really? Can they still chase me for monies that I realise that I owe (and would love to clear but currently can’t)?
