Tenancy Question, Can I pass Estate Agent checks if iI can't even get a mobile phone contract !?

Hey All :money:
I'm in the process of searching for a new home, having been in my current place for just over two years (and FYI, I have never missed a rent payment!)
I run my own small business and employ two members of staff plus myself, therefore I am employed by my own company and receive a monthly payslip.
The last two years have been a real struggle as the business has grown and I have missed a number of payments on credit cards, this has left my credit score as very poor (think its around 375 from checking the report)
I have no CCJ's or Bankruptcy etc, it's all down to missed payments that's ruined my score.
I'm now back to a comfortable level where I am beginning to get caught up on everything and get the accounts back in order.
The only reason I am moving from my current place is due to the landlord selling. I tried to get a new phone contract just yesterday and got rejected from 02 which I was surprised about, it leaves me in the worrying position where I now look like a terrible prospective tenant...
Is there much point looking through estate agencies only to be rejected and lose admin fees ? should I just consider private landlord ads via gumtree etc where I'm guessing the checks won't be as rigorous ?
Like I said, I can supply payslips and my landlord is happy to supply a reference... it would be great to hear your experience or knowledge on the matter as right now I am a bag of nerves and time is slipping away!
And PS, this isn't meant to be a 'poor me' post, I should have kept up with my payments and this is it coming back to bite me for my mistakes.

regular income and good references etc should all be okay
We were 4 years onto an IVA, and passed agency credit checks without the need for extra deposit or guarantor. at the time we would have had no chance of getting a mobile contract either
however, individual circumstances will bring different results. I cant see an issue for you, unless the affordability will be too high - this is my opinion only
other options would be to pay a few months upfront, or get a guarantor to co-sign, or go privately
hope all goes well for you0 -
Unless you volunteer additional information the only thing that a credit check for a lettings agency will show is information in the public record, ie CCJ's and bankruptcy. They can't see your payment history or details of other credit as they're not providing a financial service.0
