Lloyds (used to?) insist that you both appear together in branch.
Halifax wanted to at least speak to your partner on the phone.
Banks (should) like to make sure the other party is aware/understands that they are signing up to a formal a financial connection and to account liabilities for which s/he are both jointly and severally liable.0 -
Santander do now. I recently resurrected a dormant (very originally a Giro account) account that was in my sole name and my husband had to show photo ID and address verification to put it in joint names and we attended an appointment together. Other family members recently set up a joint account and went through the same process.Lloyds (used to?) insist that you both appear together in branch.0
