Lightwater Valley

Anyone been there? I'm thinking of taking my two 11 year olds, who like roller coaster type theme parks. Any tips, hints etc. Also any advice of cheap accommodation nearby (Travelodge at Harrogate is £50 per room per night).

Thanks.

Seems the height restriction on the biggest is 52 inches tall.
For any theme park try to avoid weekends and get there early to avoid crowds, and ride the most popular ones at dinner time its amazing how many people clear off food just cos its dinner time.

I haven't been to Lightwater Valley for years, (or "light-wallet valley" as it was known to those of us who worked there!) & I believe it's changed quite a bit. There are a fair few rollercoasters & rides, as well as an outlet shopping village.
It will probably take you up to about 45 minutes to get there from Harrogate, if you want closer look up B&Bs in Ripon. Are you travelling from Blackburn (your sig suggests it)? It's only 1 hr 15 mins from Blackburn to Ripon, I do it regularly. Skipton is about 1/2 way.

Lightwater valley is next to a village called North Stainley. Some of the villages around are called West tanfield and North Lees if you want to have a look on the internet to see if there is any accomodation there. Ripon is about a 10 min drive from lightwater valley, had a quick look in yellow pages,
the Old Deanery resturant and hotel -01765 600003
Ripon Spa Hotel - 01765 602172 I know this one is pricey

I would stop at a travelodge or similar around Leeds / bradford area as you will probably get a family room for £25 a night especially out on the trunkroad motels, offers in the times at the moment for holiday inns, one of the TV mags has vouchers in this week for reduced entry to some theme parks I don't know if lightwater valley is one of them maybe some other moneysavers can help with that

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.
