This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning
Not such a long sleep last nigh although I did sleep through but only for 5 hrs. Anyway up and at it again the spare bedding is in the wash so should have time to dry it and get it back on tomorrow for my next guest.
Good day yesterday had a lovely lunch out with my friend and we thoroughly sorted out the world as usual. Worked last night so didn't finish till 10.30 which is late for me
Managed to save £30 a month on my phone/broadband yesterday which is great but I should have sorted this ages ago. Time for a fine tooth comb through my bills again. I think i used to be a lot better when we got paper bills and was faced with it now an email is too easy to ignore. Must get better.:o
Usual boring Sat routine today starting at 9 with a grub delivery then my age Uk call and of course James' for brunch
Need to do all the washing and then put a load away from the pile in the office...riveting eh
nanny thinking about you and hoping Dad behaves himself this weekend or we will ship them off to the coven again along with silvers closed eye mum
Enjoy your weekend all

Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Nelski
Gentle hugs to all those who want / need them
Bought two boxes of shortbread, thought I might use the first for 'quality control'need to test them before I eat the second box.
Yesterday was a misty damp day so hoping today is better.
Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone.
After my early morning dental appointment yesterday I did very little. DM spent her day pottering around the house, I wanted to rest my still croaky voice. There's also a very annoying occasional cough. Anyway, the day was peaceful.
This morning I'll be going to do DM's shopping and then I'll take her to the optician. She couldn't manage to do both. Then I'll head home.
It's such a dull life!
Virtual hugs all round - lots of people here are in my thoughts.
Happy Saturday to all.0 -
Good morning g from the mist and fog of the West !islands.
Washing machine chugging away, family fed, they are going out, yesterday's tidiness is no more as DS is going for a short break so things everywhere.
Waiting for them to be away and I'll have some toast and tidy up again.
Sending love to the poorlies and worried.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
I managed to stay in bed until 2am then sat up in a chair downstairs for the rest of the night. I feel a bit like a well wrung out cloth so I will be going back up to bed later on. Everyone else is still asleep apart from the pets who have demanded brekkie and a widdle.
I eventually got all the presents wrapped up or so I thought. I can see another 4 that were hiding in plain sight . Oh well, I will wait until after the weekend now to finish wrapping them. At least I am not tripping over boxes and bags in the living room any more.
Lee's care co-ordinator came to see him yesterday and stayed for over an hour to talk to us and find out how things are going. He is really nice and was most concerned to find out that I don't have any mental health support. He is going to request a visit for me from my team so maybe I will get some help now too. Lee was ok after the visit as well which doesn't always happen. I think he was glad the focus was not just on him this time.
My legs are still not good, they get a bit better and then I knock them or the dog jumps up on them and they start leaking again. The nurses are having a lot of difficulty in finding a dressing that will stay put. I will have to ring them again this weekend which I hate doing as they are so busy but I am afraid that my legs will get infected if I am not careful.
Jemima is coming to see me later on today to collect the money for the hire car that they will need to drive down for my B-I-L's funeral next week. They have all been asked to wear funny t-shirts, definitely no black and there will be lots of motorbikes there too as he was a keen biker.
Don't know or care what is for dinner tonight. I will just be grateful that someone else is cooking.
Hope you all have a nice weekend whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning Everyone
Beautiful clear sky at the moment, just beginning to get light. I've been stood on the back door step looking at the very bright star (maybe Sirius?). Anyway, whatever it is it's beautiful.
It was a good day at work, everyone was very envious of my cosy housecoat and the children had a laugh at my cow onesie! We've raised quite a bit of money for CIN, the children did a sponsored silence too.
Yoga and shopping this morning, nothing planned for this afternoon so will see how the day pans out. If the weather stays dry I may have half an hour in the garden.
First load of washing nearly finished, I may try putting it on the line for a while for an airing, it wont dry but it will smell nice and fresh!
Thinking of the poorlies, worrieds and sads today, how are you getting on TA?
Have a good weekend, take care. XX0 -
Good morning, and thanks Nelski.
It's 8 degrees and dry here, don't know how it's forecast to turn out.
Yesterday went as planned, had a good natter with friends last night.
I had a clear out in a spare bedroom yesterday, I emptied and tidied the wardrobe, cleaned the mirrors and window, and washed floor, and it looks 100% better, it made me feel ashamed, that I'd let it get like that!!
Today I'll tidy my fabric cupboard and sewing stuff drawers, I've just been shoving things in instead of arranging them properly.
That's it, apart from a bit of shopping. I need some moth repellent sheets to go in the wardrobes, Wilk*nsons will have them.
Thoughts to the poorly and worried people.
Take care folks0 -
Morning. I will have to do the food shopping this morning I might also have a walk into town not sure yet. Dh is going to Manchester on the train at 3 so will drop him at the station at 3. Did the washing yesterday just need to put it away. I fancy spaghetti Bolognese for tea as it’s just dd and me I make a big batch and put some in the freezer for next week when I have after school club0

dumpling, fingers crossed you get some help now.
Nelski, AOD and SO, you have the patience of saints, I'd be tearing my hair out.
TA and Poppy have been quiet for a while, I hope things are ok.
Hugs to the poorlies and carers.
We spent the last three days at Laura and Brian's. She's struggling a bit - she cried on my shoulder in JL after a stupid assistant told her she couldn't have a refund on some curtains, despite having the invoice and Brian's card because he wasn't there to sign for it. We went to customer services and they gave her the refund but she's still very fragile.
Steve helped Brian with some diy - they are still finishing up the snagging on their renovations after the cowboy builders went bust on them. I did the cooking and a bit of cleaning and had a little shadow in Ziggy, she doesn't usually stick to me like glue but she was there all the time.
Steve has gone to a lymphoma conference in Basingstoke- it's about the disease itself so I decided not to go, I'm going with him to a living with lymphoma day on Monday.
I'm continuing an ongoing battle with unwanted visitors Ziggy left us with after her last visit - fleas. I have been bitten to death, especially in bed and have washed bedding and sprayed the carpet numerous times. I finally got a physical trap and last night caught four of the little b***ers from the bedroom carpet. We slept in a spare room as well and I shall wash all the bedding yet again. We're away in the van from Tuesday until Friday so I think we'll wait until we get back before going back into the bedroom.
On other news I hope to make my C cake this weekend, Crystal has already made a pudding for us and I want to finish sewing the borders on the quilt top I'm making.0 -
Morning everyone
Nelski - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and myself up enjoying peaceful cuppas, eldest gone into to work and DS2 just had brekkie as he's catching a lift with me to town, he'll go to the gym whilst I visit town.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk. I had a giant couscous and veg stir fry packet that I found lurking in the bottom of the freezer, was nice enough. Not sure what we'll be having tonight need to organise although did a shop yesterday, couldn't find any inspiration, hoping something will come to me. I did get some HM butternut squash soup made yesterday, a bowl of it was my lunch and there's another couple of portions left, so I'll have some today for lunch, possibly the other will get stashed into the freezer. I made it with stock from the chicken carcass, so made good use of the complete chicken.
Just the normal sort of day today here.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nelski and hugs to all those in need.
I'm bored now, I've had an upset stomach for best part of a week, I know it's stress related but it's still boring. On the up side I must be losing weight.
The ESD team have said that as we live on a boat CHS is not to be left alone at any point for 6 weeks, they will reassess at the end of that time. The poor sod is sick of the sight of me.
My tenant is being given notice early next week, no doubt there will be ructions.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
