Wheeler Dealers

Being old I've owned a number of the cars seen on Wheeler Dealers. I've rarely been lucky enough to own ones with so few faults that could be so easily made into "the best one out there" as Mike always claims.
As others have said, changing a gearbox is a lot easier if you've got a workshop full of tools, a two post lift & a Paul available. Not so much fun in the front garden in a snow storm.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
Its only a tv program, there's a lot worse out there, and it passes and hourOne man's folly is another man's wife. Helen Roland (1876 - 1950)0

I like the make-do-and-mend philosophy, but the "make a profit" angle is unrealistic.0

two examples
Strippers: cars for cash
Modern Wheels or Classic Steals.
I can't believe that anyone has actually watched more than 10 minutes of that garbage.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Most programmes like this on Discovery and similar channels are fake and everything is scripted, especially the American ones. Of course they didn't buy the car from the guy at the start or sell it to the guy at the end. It's all just for the show.0

With wheeler Dealers I watch the bits in the workshop because it takes me back to my youth, I'm not interested in the "back story" which is just that, a story. At least there's none of that "it must be done by Tuesday for under a fiver" false jeopardy that you get in the American series on similar subjects.
OK there is some, but it's half hearted.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
Does anyone find it odd how little engine work seems to be needed? You would think that would be bread and butter for most doer uppers but of the episodes i’ve seen, only the sierra cosworth, ferrari dino and 2cv needed oily bits looking at.0

I haven't seen any of the Ant episodes yet, but seen plenty of the Ed China ones, especially the earlier ones where they did run of the mill British cars with no fuss.
Not really interested when it's all about Ferrari and other expensive exotic cars.
I think Mike Brewer should do another series of Deal On Wheels

There have been plenty of heads coming off for modification for unleaded fuel, a few rebuilds of VW engines. I dare say we don't see the lemons Mike buys that need new engines.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
Oh yes the AC Cobra replica needed a fair bit doing to pass the emmissions test. Yeah it would be interesting to know how many cars ended up being rejected. Perhaps one of the team will do a warts and all book about it one day.0
