Help Needed - Emissions

Hi
I am already a long time user - but have somehow logged out and can't remember password..
My car is not used on a regular basis, and on occasion I have had to have the car jump started as the battery had died.
Last time this happened, the check engine light came on, so a trip to the garage for a repair, service and MOT.
They did service, and repair, but, the light was still on, and not showing a fault when they did diagnostic, they then said that they didn't do MOT's at that particular site.
I took the car today to another branch, and the car failed MOT on the emissions. They did not appear interested that I had just been charged 230 for a repair that was supposed to have rectified it.
I am going to phone original branch in the morning, what should I be asking them to do.
I don't want to pay another couple hundred to fix something I thought was fixed.
I have read on various forums that people have driven their cars for years with this light showing, and I would too, but I think since January it's an automatic fail for MOT.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

The repair probably did rectify the eml fault light. The emissions are high due to low use. Give it a decent run with a bit of boot and probably some redex or similar and problem goes away.0

If its petrol, put a bottle of cataclean in it, take it for a run for half hour at high revs just before mot test (eg 50 mph in 3rd gear)
and get the light extuingished, it is a fail, but if it comes back on 4 days later it doesn't matter0 -
Thanks.
I did put cataclean in, as suggested by first branch when light didn't go off, and have been using it daily since repair.
Should original branch investigate and repair?0 -

What were the actual failed emissions figures?I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

It's 2006 registered nissan micra
16000 mileage (only used going back and forward to work, and shopping)
Petrol.
Since retiring, not used as often.
Always serviced, and this is 1st MOT fail.0 -
Fast idle test
Engine speed 2450-3050. 2822 rpm. Pass
CO. Max 0.20%. O.00%. Pass
ND. Max 200 ppm. 3ppm Pass
Lambda 0.97 - 1.03 1.06 Fail
Second fast idle test
Same as first
Is this what you meant?0 -

Yes, and you most likely have an exhaust leak which is making the lambda high.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Looked at the receipt from original repair and it states bank 1 lambda changed, so, should original depot fix this?0

No, you have a 2nd issue which affects the emissions test.
And when they fix that you may have another repair that fixes the emissions.
But without all 3 items fixed the emissions wont ever be right.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
