It all depends on how much you value your time and how much stress you are willing to endure. What are you wanting out of it? What were the reasons for the delay? Was it under the control of the airline or was it due to air traffic control, weather etc.? Personally I would just be glad to get away from Ibiza no matter how long it took

I suppose i'm looking to get back the extra cash my party had to pay out.
1.Originally the flight was at 07.00- so we booked into a hotel at gatwick, the hotel did a buffet breakfast from 04.00 + transport from the same time, no problems.
A week before the trip they changed the flight to 05.40, which meant we had to organise own transport + missed out on breakfast. Bearing in mind there were 19 staying at the airport that was 5 taxis at 15 quid each.
When we arrived at Gatwick we found out the flight was delayed to 08.55 due to them waiting for a larger plane to arrive because of a problem the day before, we eventually took off just after 10.00, only a few of us got a £3.00 meal voucher most did not, can i claim for the extra expenses for my party.if i had known then what i know now0 -
I suppose the determining factor is what the "problem the day before" entailed?
If your aircraft was, for example, stuck somewhere due to bad weather, air traffic control strikes etc. then the airline would not be liable under the new EU legislation
Did you make any complaints at the time? To whom? What was said? Did other passengers get involved and did you manage to get their contact details as witnesses?
It sounds as though you endured quite an ordeal so early in the morning so giving up is perhaps not the best option, but a strongly worded letter to the airline with the facts may help progress matters. IMO, your hotel arrangements were beyond the airline's responsibility as it was a separate transaction (a package deal would've sorted it for you). What matters is that you expected to depart at 05:40 but didn't leave until 10:00.
Good luck0
