IKEA delivery times

Why does it take Ikea 3 weeks to deliver an item (via Royal Mail) for an item that is in stock?

Unbelievable!

What reason did they give when you asked them?

If you are ordering online, the estimated delivery date is the earliest date we can deliver as the items come from our distribution centre. If you visit a store, our home delivery service may be able to offer you next day delivery.

For online deliveries, there are two delivery methods. We aim to deliver your order within 14 days, depending on stock availability and where you live.

I live 15 miles from a major city in England. I just don’t understand why it takes so long. Either there is a big backlog (and we’re not yet in December) or it must just be an incredibly inefficient system.

I've had 3 RM deliveries from them over the last 2 months (really need to be more organised when I make the long trip to store!) and both were delivered within 5 days of ordering.

A van delivery I ordered on Monday evening arrived first thing on the friday morning.

I'm guessing this might be very much store specific.

3 weeks is still quicker than going to a store and wandering around lost, living on left over meatballs and tiny pencils :D

You missed out the paper measuring tapes, pretend its spaghetti :)

Cold meatballs, pencils and paper tapes would be my choice instead of a McDonalds. :A

Wonder if anyone has ever bought an ex display item of furniture and found someone living in it? :D
