This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning
Good sleep last night slept through from 9.30 till 4.30 ..most unusual.
Great day yesterday despite the 4hrs travel. Session went well and depending on the costings I need to put in today they want to book another 4 days:j its really good news as they pay a lot better than my mainstay lot.
Mum had a good birthday and when I popped in she was in a really good mood....oh for a birthday every day
Both her sisters had rang so she had had a good gossip too. Wish they would ring more but she's her own worst enemy and never phones them so I dont blame them.
So today its an office day I want to get everything done then a nice long weekend awaits.
Right off to bore myself with constant Brexit news. have a good day all

Morning everyone
Nelski - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark here, air feels cooler, but once sky had cleared yesterday we had a lovely clear blue sky and sunshine although a bit of a chill in the wind, today looks similar if the forecasters have predicted correctly. Washing ready to peg out once it's light.
Dh up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and D2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas/veg. Tonight I'm not sure but will sort it out later.
Although I'm now on days' off I have to go into work today for some training sessions, this is going to be until lunchtime, so really impacts on my day by the time I've driven back, but the powers that be won't change it so there's no point in arguing over it. In good news though once I've finished today I'm off on annual leave until a week Monday. Loads to do, DH is off for some of it too, he's supposed to be decorating not looking forward to that, but I'll be back at work when he's doing that.
Once finished at the training, I'll be going to town to visit the bank and building society, calling in at MrL on way home to pick up a loaf of bread and something for dinner/or get ideas of what I can make with what I already have.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
It's stopped raining! Don't know how long it will last but it's a nice break, yesterday was awful, heavy rain and strong winds all day.
I took my friend to hospital, her op went fine but she had a bad reaction to the unaesthetic so has been kept in overnight. Her DH went over to see her so I went to their house to get the children their dinner and stay with them until he came home, 10pm is quite late for me! Needless to say I haven't gone swimming this morning, just can't get going.
Didn't get anything done as I wasn't in so will have to catch up tonight.
Hope all's well in your world, take care. XX0 -

Specky pleased to hear everything is going well
Another bad night, couldn't get off to sleep again.
Went to see mother yesterday, not sure why. I put her cup of tea in her hand, she drank it eyes closed, put some grapes in her hands, ate them eyes closed, I tried to make conversation but she ignored me, when we got up to go and she opened her eyes and said are you going already.
Going to W@itrose today, they have shortbread selection box on half price offer, I think I need shortbread. I think other half price Christmas goodies may just find their way into my trolley.
Take care allIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Thank you nelski for starting us off. I am glad your mum had a good birthday and great news about your work.
I am having a horrible time at the moment to be honest, depression is kicking my butt and I am finding it very difficult to look after everyone. I am really struggling not having any support from mental health services and feel that I have been abandoned. Sorry for the whinge, Steve is going through some tough times at work so I don't feel I can increase his burden by telling him how rubbish I feel.
Today I need to finish wrapping up the Christmas presents then I can stop worrying about that. I have the architects coming to measure up for their plans for a shower room this afternoon and Lee has a health check at lunch time. My grand children will be here in a minute to stay until school starts. My grandson asked me to come and hear him sing in his concert and I had to say that I couldn't go. It broke my heart.
I hope you all have a good day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
SO thats heartbreaking for you
why do they think being mean is a good plan to get you to stay. Have a hug you deserve it. As for shortbread...mmmmmmm
Hollyis staying with her brother whilst she waits for a bed which is for the best as they will take care of her
DumplingIm sure steve would want to know how your feeling
OL As my dad used to say you will get your reward in heaven ...you do so much for your family :A0 -
Good Morning chums and quite a mild one it is here in Kent ,I had a lovely chat with my eldest DGS last night on Facetime as it was his 28th birthday and he lives in NYC.Bless him we had Danny my eldest DD his other Gran and myself on a fourway natter The internet is a fantastic thing at times.
Well the anti biotics seem to be doing their job with my arm at least although I have woken with a streaming cold this morning and my nose is running like the ThamesBut I shall survive with a few pills and cough mixture .I am off to Bromley today to see my dear sis-in-law, and also to pick up some wool from a poster on here as well:) so its going to be a busy day (thanks in advance JanB5) should be there around 10.30 traffic permitting. M2 has had a lot of traffic problems lately so I may use the M20 instead.
Hopefully I shall be able to pop in to Aldis on the way back to pick up a few essentials as I haven't been near a shop to buy much in the way of food for the past two weeks as I have been living out of my freezer, but I definitely need some fresh fruit and veg today.
hope everyone has a good day and <<hugs >> for those who are in need of one
Take care all

Morning everyone and thanks for the start Nelski, glad your Mum enjoyed her birthday.
Am so sorry that things are rough for you at the moment Dumpling, there does seem to be such a huge gulf in mental care in this country, take care x
We have a poorly dog as well OL, I found a lump on little dogs chest at the weekend and took her in to the vets on Monday when we agreed it should come out ASAP. The vet took her out back to shave a bit of her fur to check the lump better and not sure what the flipping heck they used, blunt spooon by the damage they did but her chest is red raw and very sore. Took her back yesterday, had phoned but not sure they understood how bad it was, they tried to make all sorts of excuses, it was her mithering at it, her harness rubbed etc, but I was having none of it and made a formal complaint  The op has been postponed until next week and I am bathing it with salt water plus using nappy rash cream, poor little mite.
Not masses planned for today, bit of food shopping and will get over to see Lu, she was a little madam yesterday, first time in weeks so not sure if this mild weather is causing the grass to push through with extra sugar or something.
Thoughts are with Holly and all our poorlies or those suffering with worries & cares, take care folks x0 -
Good morning folks.
Still blowing a hoolie here. I'm off soon down to Glasgow with a stop off to buy DM a fishy something or other at Loch Fyne Oyster Bar. I'll also handover the big parcel for A mazon at the post office.
Sorry to hear you're struggling Dumpling. Can you appeal about support being withdrawn?
Not seen TA for a few days - hope she's resting now.
My cold is slowly subsiding, a dose of night nurse gives me a cough free sleep, and then a 10 minute throat de-coke in the morning. :rotfl: JackieO - I didn't pass it on, hope you get better soon.
Right, must get organised, happy Thursday to everyone.0 -
Morning everyone,
Yesterday after work I walked to a nearby Tesco and bought some food for the hotel room to save any expensive dining out. I then spent the majority of my evening in my room, eating, watching TV and on the laptop. Was knackered though and so went to bed at around 9.30. Alas, 'the non-sleeping disease' (taff)has got hold of me as I couldn't get to sleep till around 2am.
Tonight my colleague has invited me to play football with his mates. Of course, I have no idea what the quality of the game will be like and only have his physique to base it on but I really appreciate the effort that he's going to to help me integrate.
Nelski - A rather pleasant day and night for you then. Glad DM enjoyed herself
silver-oldie - I can't have been pleasant but there is something funny about that story with your DM. Like something from a sketch show.
Dumpling - Don't apologise to us, and you know that you can always come on here and get things off your chest if you don't think it's the right time to tell Steve - although I'm sure he'd understand
Boxwood - Have you raised it with HR/Finance?
Lainey - That's such a shame. What about trying a different vet?0
