how is anyone supposed to believe any of these quotes when so many people not long ago were duped into endowments and where did they end up being taken for a ride.
I think people have to work on what their circumstances are and if you are looking to buy a house and stay in it for a good 6 years plus then now is a good time to buy house prices always go up and down so its irrelevant if you are planning to live somewhere for a few years you have to go with your heart and if you want your own home and it matches all your needs then go for it,

The average woman would rather have beauty than brains,
because the average man can see better than he can think.
Many people's view of the world is down to their experience, perception and what they have been conditioned to,this isnt any old MSE reply this is a important and experienced MSE reply :rotfl:

only if the cost of both renting/"owning" is similar (ie 10-20% in it)
I don't see the point in mortgaging yourself up to the hilt and paying out £1500 if you could rent somewhere for £800.
i bought my place last year (mortgage is £650 approx) due to unforseen circumstances i've had to rent it out for £800pcm.
however if my mortgage payments were like £1500 compared to rental prices of £800 I'd rent and either pocket the difference or enjoy my life rather than living like a tramp just cos i "own" my own home.0 -
