Hi how many times can you cancel a dentist appointment before they take you off the register? Also does the same apply to hygienist appointments? I am referring to the my dentist one in Oxford Street weston super mare and the weston super mare beaconsfield road one

And also possibly depending on how close it is to the appointment, when they decide they've had enough.
NHS or private? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
1. There is no register.
2. Whatever they like.
Of course how harsh they are depends on how many clients they have (If you are talking NHS they probably have no shortage) and how you are cancelling the appointments (specifically under 48 hours notice etc).0 -
It's NHS for the check up and private for the hygienist0

If I don't see my NHS dentist at least once in 12 months, I then lose my place to be seen as NHS
If I don't give 24hrs notice when cancelling Im charged for the missed appointment0 -
There is no absolute answer. It depends on your dentist. If they like you it could go on forever, if they are not interested in you, you give them grief, then they can make you an ex patient.0

Each practice will have its own policy.
In general if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice it can be difficult to fill the appointment and the practice loses money . As even a cheap practice costs around £140 a room an hour to run , it doesn't take many unfilled cancelled appointments before the practice has lost a lot of money.
In England and Wales you cannot charge for missed/late cancelled NHS appointments so practices are likely to refuse to someone again who does this more than once or twice.
Private hygiene appointments you can charge for late cancellations/missed appointments.0 -

If you are in England or Wales and it was an NHS appointment then that is unlawful! (Rightly or wrongly).
Regarding your first paragraph, whilst "your" dentist is free to choose to operate in that way, there is no longer registration. In England or Walse an NHS dentist is only obliged to complete the current course of treatment and after that doesn't have to see you again.0 -
I am a patient at a My Dentist surgery in Scotland. I think the system is different here in terms of being registered with a dentist, but I know they charge for appointments cancelled at short notice. However, it’s at the individual dentist’s discretion. I once had an 8.30am appointment and woke up with such a bad cold I could barely talk for coughing, totally out of the blue. I rang at 7am and left a voicemail, then rang a few days later to reschedule and pay the fine, but my dentist had told reception not to charge me because I have been a patient there for years and never cancelled an appointment before.
I had root canal treatment done by a private endodontist earlier this year and the policy there - Bupa surgery - was something like £100 for less than 24 hours notice.0
