My OH & I have joint a/c - not with Halifax but likely that most banks will have similar rules - and we have different user ID and passwords but same e-mail address.

I would use different password though I doubt it makes any difference as the only person who knows is you.

    Hi,

You should be able to register as POA with online access, was this not offered to you when you registered the POA for the account?

Speak to Halifax and ask the to register you, but answer to you questions different password but you can use the same email address.

  • You will need to register an account under your name - contact the bank to arrange this if you haven't already. I would personally set it up with whatever email/password you see fit, although some systems may not let you register the same email address twice. It makes more sense to me to keep it separate to your mother's login details so that there is a distinct boundary between when she is acting on her own behalf and when you are acting on her behalf, but other then that it probably doesn't matter since the end result is going to be the same.

I'm 87.6% ;-) sure you will need a seperate email address. No system is ever set up for more than one account per email. Although I guess halifax may be since the email is not the username. Try it. They should not be even storing the passwords so should not care if they are the same.

I deal with all the correspondence for my wife's current accounts as well as my own so the email address is always set up the same for both our sole a/cs. I can confirm this works for our existing a/cs with Nationwide, Bank of Scotland, Tesco, TSB, M&S, Coop, HSBC, Halifax, First Direct and Barclays. As far as I can remember, it was also OK when we recently both had a/cs with Yorkshire/Clydesdale, NatWest and Santander.
