    Sorry for your loss.
    Thank you :(
My guess is the estimate covered the OOH consultation and tests they would do until the morning, at that stage they would not know when your dog would be well enough to go home.

Were you contacted during the dogs stay? I can't image an animal being at the vets for 3 days with no contact.

I was in regular contact with the vet as this was my beloved dog in their care. I was not given any update on the costs from the time she was admitted (late Saturday night/early hours of Sunday morning) until Monday morning, by which time the bill was £2,070

I suggest you ask for an itemised bill and take it from there.

I've already been provided with this. Thanks for your courteous reply iammumtoone, it is much appreciated.

I didn't think they had to - I was following the advice I was given.

Well, I Googled 'trading standards' found their number, called them, navigated their phone menu and spoke to someone who advised me. Simple really :)

That’s interesting as many people on here have said that individuals can’t speak to trading standards. I have never tried but assumed you couldn’t as it’s been mentioned so often

It's not actually TS that an individual speaks to, it's CA.

Trading standards services are delivered by your local authority and consumer concerns should be reported to the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 03454 04 05 06.
