Mercedes (??) Minor Damage Insurance?
Just some friendly advice pls - pls feel free not to comment or just go to the next thread if you feel my question is a bit silly
I had a new Mercedes on PCP and bought the Minor Damage Insurance for £499 for the 3 years. To be fair it was well used and i made a few claims to get my money's worth. On reflection, i researched (after) and obviously this insurance can be bought much cheaper. However, exchanged my car this month and when chatting they asked if i'd like the insurance and i stated i'd be buying it elsewhere. They mentioned it won't be a 'Mercedes' policy and won't be the same/same paint colours etc etc. Is this true? Or a usual sales tactic to make me pay for theirs. Any advice would be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

There are policies called 'Scratch and Dent' policies. Same kind of concept but doesn't have Mercedes as a pre-fix!0

Buy where you like as long as the actual cover is like for like, or close enough.
Read up on the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and see if their selling tactics are pressured or misleading give you grounds to complain.0 -
500 quid would fix minor damage0

I suspect there's a nice kickback to the MB salesman if you take their policy - they're well known for trying to upsell things like wheel insurance, paint protection etc that can be obtained much cheaper elsewhere.0

Would they potentially screw you if the 3rd party repairs weren't up to standard when it came time to hand it back? Whereas if you had the official merc package you would have a defense.
Hypothesising here0 -
