I received a letter dated 28/12/2018 from Lloyds telling me about the move to a new Mastercard and cancellation of the Amex card. Apparently this is going to happen "in a couple of months time". From what I've read on this forum, Lloyds have not handled the change very well, let's see what happens. Meanwhile :
I use my BA Amex for most transactions, and continue to collect and use Avios.
If a company won't take Amex, I use my Lloyds Mastercard and still get the Avios (creditted to my BA account).
I got all my "old" Avios transferred successfully to my BA account.

Alfista (do you drive a Giulia by any chance?),

whilst your Lloyds Amex is still valid, does not make sense to use a standard BA Amex (Unless you have the Premium Plus Version) as you would miss on the additional 0.25 avios per £1 spent.

    Hi,

Any of you has not yet received a n official letter from Lloyds to announce the change of product?

I have received official notification that the product is being withdrawn, but it had no specific dates.

Gat an AMEX card, lots to choose from.

If you take the GOLD card like i did its free in year 1 so cancel after 10 months.
20000 points if you spend 2K in first 3 months or 22000 if you get referred.

Points can be used for AVIOS or lots of other airline reward schemes,
You can also exchange for giftcards (20000 points) is worth £100

Thanks, I am an Amex member since 2002 and do churn Rewards Card every so often (in effect as soon as I triggered the free Lloyds Avios upgrade voucher, I would get an amex and trigger the bonus before cancelling). My question was around keep spending on this card to reach another upgrade or not too bother if change of product was imminent and churn a new Amex now (the 6 months wait ended mid January for me)

I drive a (rather aged) 156 2 litre twin spark - lovely car. When I win the lottery (hmmm....) I'll get a Giulia.
    It's only rock 'n' roll ...

The 156 is still a nice car, I really liked her when it was launched in the mid 90’s, but I was always waiting for the next proper Alfa after the 75. I do not think you need to wait for the lottery for a Giulia (unless you mean the Quadrifoglio). I can highly recommend the Veloce 280hp... a bit thirsty in urban traffic but lovely otherwise

I have finally got my letter... But, there is no exact date on the change... it only states that the upgrade voucher can be earned until end of March 2020, and I have just achieved one, so hopefully I can get another one from January to March 2020

I got my letter yesterday too and it states my upgrade voucher can be earned until the end of July 19, which is the anniversary month of when I originally opened the account. They are obviously letting everyone complete their current "collection year" for the voucher even when this will run over onto the replacement card.
