Help!! So many errors!!

I received a letter from Glasstone Brooks solicitors on behalf of NCP several months after date in question. They claim to have sent a previous letter regarding parking fine-i did not get it!! They claim i did not pay on one occasion which is true but due the fact 2 machines were not working and i could not see another. I also was unable to get through on phone to customer services as before opening hours. I left a note in windscreen as had several other cars and have photo of this. I have received emails addressed to other people and had no communication from them for months on end, even though i respond promptly to anything i get from them. I have just received letter (sent to old address where i haven't lived for 4 years) from the county court stating i now have a ccj which will be cancelled if pay within a month!! I have mortgage and cannot afford to have a ccj. Please any advice about what i can do would be appreciated. Sorry for length!

I’ve highlighted the bit where you went wrong in the first place.
  • Did you update the DVLA on your change of address for both the car and driving license?

PM a Board Guide to get this moved to the Parking sub-forum. This is the wrong place to ask.

In the meantime take a look at the NEWBIES sticky thread in there. (And ignore the reply in post #2 above - these parking companies setup their systems and processes to enable people to fail).

It was Gladstones not Gladstone Brookes that wrote to you.

What has the licence (note spelling) have to do with it?
  • Because drivers often update their license and assume the car details are updated at the same time, which they are not.

Yes, your first was posting in the motoring forum, then calling Glastones Solicitors Gladstone Brooks. There are a whole load more in your post but don't worry, we forgive you.
  • Yes i updated all my details and have had one letter from them received at my current address. I have kept all of the communications. Thank you for responding.
This is my first time on here and am very stressed about situation so a couple of errors are excusable.
  • Why don't you either start a new thread on the parking one or ask the mods to move this one. you are more likely to get help there.

Indeed. It sounds like a default ccj has been given. This now requires a bit of input from people familiar with the court process and parking matters.

The parking sub forum is here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

You will notice at the top of this board is a thread that tells Newbies to read it first. The second post in that thread deals with the court process. Read it very carefully especially the section about getting a claim set aside.
