Hey everyone,
im self employed and will be claiming my MA in the new year, I understand its 10 KIT days im allowed to do during my maternity leave, but my question is, how much am I allowed to earn per KIT day?
Tried calling the JCP today and was on hold for 48 minutes, I then got cut off as it closed. can someone please help.
Thanks

Providing it is your own business, and not your partners, this document confirms that you can take the 10 KIT days if you are self-employed:

The following is an extract from section 4.10 in this document:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/maternity-benefits-technical-guidance/maternity-benefits-technical-guidance
"The amount you get paid for the days you work in your MAP will not affect your MA."
The guideance doesn't limit the kind of work you can do, so it would appear ok to do fee-earning work, and based on the above, it is ok for you to keep everything you earn on those days (just treat it as normal income).
Hope this helps. I would encourage you to double-check this if you are able to. I know it is a pain hanging on, but if you call as soon as the lines open, you might have less time to wait. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
Great. Ill give them another call tomorrow. Im just wondering how much I can actually earn per KIT day, as there must be a limit they set?0
