Looking for a canal side holiday cottage in the Midlands, Somerset or Wiltshire. Had a look Sykes Cottages any other sites or personal recommendations. Hoping to pay no more than £350 for a week in May for 3 people. Many thanks.

I remember reading a recent thread about trouble getting deposits back from Sykes on this board that may be worth reading before you book with them - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5895187/sykes-chasing-good-housekeeping-bond&highlight=sykes+cottages
I have always used AirBnB for holiday cottages, and had largely good experiences. Like anywhere else, do your research first!0 -
A Google search for canal side holidays will bring up loads of sites0

Thanks for replies. Unless I have missed something when I look at
AIRBnB and Cottages4u sites they dont seem to have search facility
for canal or waterside cottages. At the moment I am looking at all cottages descriptions to find out if they are near a canal.0 -

We've gone with Sykes for many years. Never been asked for a deposit.0 -

May be the case - never used them myself, just passing on what others have said!

The deposits referred to were the 'good housekeeping deposits' that the cottage owners required.
