Small Claim judgement issued - what next?

    I didn't use the route you suggest as I wasn't really aware that taxi firms are licensed by the LA, I know the drivers are but I didn't know it applied to the company too. Would you suggest doing it now anyway?

    I wasn't expecting you to know tbh, most people don't. I only know due to family members owning a few taxi firms so I saw behind the scenes regularly when growing up.

    Yes, it can't hurt to try now. I've never known a company to ignore the LA.

    They may have assets, they may not. If they are a limited company you will be able to check their last return on companies house and see what - if any - assets they have.

    But you already have a Judgment against the Ltd company...

    Thats not how minicab/taxi firms operate.

    If you get into a taxi at the rank, your contract is with the driver - regardless of what roofsign they have on.

    If you call a booking office then your contract is with the office who then pass it on to their employee or third party contractor (self employed drivers) to perform and the office retain liability to the customer.

    Yes, it was in no way the driver's fault, he went to the address that the dispatcher told him. He only knew it was wrong after I called the company to ask where he was.



    What happened was that I had previously ordered a taxi from this company to take a group of us to the airport from a friends house. That address was recorded by the taxi company, and when I called from the same number the first option was to use that address. However, I selected a different option, spoke to the dispatcher and gave him my address. However, the driver was still given the incorrect address.



    I included a SAR with my LBA to get the recording of my call but that was also ignored (so I've sent a complaint to the ICO about that).

    It sounds like they're using a computerised dispatch system and the dispatcher has hit the wrong number - addresses associated with your phone number appear on a list with each address being a numbered option. The dispatcher should have checked the details were correct before "dropping" the hire, they've been negligent imo.

    I've now put in a complaint to the council asking for their assistance in getting payment from the taxi company - I will let you know what happens.
