I’ve received a letter from DWP informing me someone will ring me regarding the above. Is it just routine?
I am in receipt of JSA, HB and CTB.
The bit in the letter that says “when you claimed benefit you agreed to tell us immediately if any circumstances changed” had me thinking do they think my circumstances have changed? Because everything is the same.
I’m just wondering if it’s a routine thing?

Try not to worry about. I think these are sometimes random checks. Other times the DWP will have got a bit of information which they want to check. If you know that you have told them everything and your circumstances have not changed it should be OK.
Unfortunately you can't really prepare for it because you don't know what they're going to ask you.
If you have paperwork related to your benefits and finances it may be helpful to have it to hand when they call. If they ask you something you can't answer because you need to check it first say so.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Yeah nothing has changed so that’s why I thought it must be some sort of random check. M
It says on the back of the letter to have bank statements etc handy so I’ll nake sure they are ready to look at although the only money I receive is my JSA.0 -
I received one of those last week and the telephone interview is looming.
I’m the same as OP as my circumstances are all the same.
However I did wonder about a few things, I sometimes sell on eBay but not as a business just unwanted personal items and I also take part in some survey sites and cash out to PayPal then subsequently my bank.
I checked with HMRC though and they said those two things were not required to be declared to them.
Would it affect JSA though? Should I of declared? But then I thought how would they even know?
So l was guessing it was just a random check.

Got a call off them today, they said obviously the DWP are linked to other agencies and something was flagged with a credit reference agency about a female having credit at my address so it’s needs looking into in case it was a partner living with me. I laughed to start with as I’m gay for a starters.
Not sure how they get you to disprove that over the phone like.0 -

I would have a look at your credit report to see if anything odd has shown up. Someone may have attempted credit fraud with your address.0 -
Okay. I’ll check that now.
I’m just assuming maybe someone has tried to use my address in their name and it’s flagged up?0 -
Thought I would come back and give an update as I had my compliance telephone interview this morning at 9am.
Basically some account was flagged up as been opened although a while back in 2014 at my address in someone else’s name but at my address so they said they needed to check if my circumstances hadn’t changed and that I didn’t have a partner living with me.
Asked various questions about what benefits I claim, who I rent from, how long I have lived there, if I’ve done any paid work, asked if I’m single and about savings.
Said I moved in obviously after the account was opened so he was satisfied it was a previous tenant.
Thank god!0 -

I always say that if you haven't done anything wrong then you have nothing to worry about.1

Might of been easier to start your own.Read the above, it could be about information they have received, a random check, etc.Mine was due to a credit reference agency flagging something and the call lasted a few minutes and was resolved.0
