TV cable in the wrong position

I am hoping someone can advise. We have just bought a Victorian terraced house and are having some electrical works done before we move in. The TV/internet cable (Virgin Media provider) comes in at the front of the house, through the wall by the bay window. However, there's not room to have a TV positioned in that corner of the room, so we want to have it set up further down the room—against the same wall, but the other side of the fireplace. The electrician told me he can't move the point at which the cable emerges from the wall without ripping up the floor, which we don't want to do since it's newly laid by the previous owner; but he said that it would be possible for the TV to be run wirelessly from a cable box in the corner near the window. Is that right? I've always had my TV hardwired in the past. Thanks for any advice.

When I had my VM installed I got the cable length so I could have the TV anywhere in the room, I just run it round the walls when I move the TV to a different location.
I don't have any doors to cross to get to al the places a TV can go.0 -
Some modern televisions might well support wireless streaming - I noticed that our new virgin V6 box apparently supports streaming to mobile devices.
It would however be an absolute last resort - the reliability and speed of wireless is awful compared to wired. So fish the cable under the floor if at all possible.0 -
Or chase the cable into the wall. Depends how much disruption you can deal with.0

I dont think your spark is correct.
The V6 box is 'wireless' in that it can and does stream its information for on-demand and catch-up programs from the superhub either using wireless or wired but the connection to the TV itself isnt wireless.
Your electrician might be getting confused with the Virgin TV go app which can stream virgin media programs to a mobile/tablet but the V6 box and TV still need an HDMI connection between them.
At the risk of getting technical, you can get wireless HDMI sender boxes to replace an HDMI cable but from memory they will cost upwards of £150.
hope this helps0 -
Is it possible to get en extension cable for the Virgin cable?0

Can you run cables externally, to bring the box in the other side/back of the house?(Nearly) dunroving0

Issue with extending the cable is that it can't be buried under the floor or chased into the wall because in between where it comes into the house and where I want it to be is a fireplace/chimney...0

The problem you have is that to achieve what you describe using a standard setup, its likely that at least one cable is going to have to go from near the window to where you want your TV on the other side of the fireplace (either to extend the cable to the V6 or to extend the HDMI cable to the TV)
However, have a look at these links...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/One-All-Wireless-HDMI-Sender/dp/B01BMG9UE2
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ProVision-Wireless-Sender-Receiver-Transmitter/dp/B00A22MG62
Its an option and the reviews say works fine with VM kit - as long as you have somewhere to put an additional box near the window, then that product should work.
Its supplied by Amazon so you could try it out and return if not suitable.
Hope this helps.0 -

Another way up and over the ceiling and back down depending on how much trouble you want to go to but there is always a way in the end.0
