Sorn Fine with incorrect details

I work away for months at a time and I recently received a Sorn fine for my vehicle that is kept on a driveway at my home during some building works being carried out the van was moved onto the road whilst the windows were replaced (I was unaware of this ) , the sorn fine shows the incorrect road and not the road I live on , I then received a second fine showing the vehicle on the same incorrect road (this time misspelt) I have raised this with DVLA who have said that their GPS data has shown the road name incorrectly and the correct data(gps co ordinates ) is infact my own road , can they inforce this seeing as they have issued the sorn fine with the incorrect Information ?

If you refuse to pay this will end up in court, and they have plenty of time to get the details right.

You are the keeper of an untaxed vehicle that was on the road.
You have been fined for that.
You don't dispute that it WAS on the road... just the details on the ticket show the wrong road the first time, the right road but mis-spelt the second time...

How wrong is this other road? Are we talking something utterly random and made-up? Or was it parked near a junction, and the road name is the other leg of the junction? Or does the road change name somewhere near the parking spot?

Yes, it's enforceable. Untaxed vehicles stay away from the road. Who had access to the keys and moved it, if you didn't even know it had been moved?

Your car was observed on the Queens Highway untaxed. First fine is for an untaxed vehicle, second bill isn't actually a fine but a demand for backdated VED.

Was the person who moved it insured to drive that (untaxed) vehicle on a public road?

You could also be charged with allowing an uninsured driver to drive your vehicle unless you want to report them for TWOC.

Not by the DVLA you won't.

As alluded to already if the OP declines to pay the DVLA the matter will go to court where the road name can be ammended if required.

    Peculiar response.

If the OP was/is prepared to take this to court to challenge it then it's highly likely the issue of whether the car and/or driver were insured to be driving it on the public road would crop up.

You don't half talk some rubbish mate. The only thing that will be dealt in court is the non payment of VED.
  • If anyone is thinking of keeping a SORN vehicle on a driveway that can be seen from the road, or like in the OPs case, easily moved onto the road, take the number plate off. Then it can't be picked up by any DVLA clamping vans that pass by.
