PCN and Gladstones Solicitors

Hi all, I'm new here and kindly looking for some advice if I may. I received a PCN through the post for parking for two hours in a private car park which is within a college building (I presume it is owned by them too). This college has a 5 a side football facility and any customers of these football facilities is entitled to free parking so long as they put their number plate in the system. I am 100 percent certain I did this on the day.
I received the PCN and decided not to action it. This then resulted in Gladstone solicitors sending a 'letter before claim' asking for the monies owed.
After receiving this, I contacted the company that runs the football facilities who advised me they have hundreds of these events due to computer faults, and advised me to contact the solicitors who will cancel the claim as they have done previously.
Since the letter did not include a reply form, I signed up to Gladstones website which either gave me an option to pay or an enquiry form. I entered the above in the enquiry form in hope they will cancel it as requested.
Please can you advise if any further action is needed as I am completely new to this whole process? The 'letter before claim' completely threw me off guard and I fear receiving a CCJ against my name which will no doubt affect my future.
I look forward to hearing from you.

A ccj against you is a long way in the future
To get one you first have to lose in court or ignore a court claim. Should you get that far then it can be prevented from affecting your future by paying it off in full within a month from the date of judgement.
Your description of the letter before claim doesn't add up.
A proper lbcca should have included forms to return (don't!) and give you at least 30 days to pay.
If yours didn't then it was just a debt collector attempt
Please check your letter
If it's a lbcca then read up in the newbies FAQ thread near the top of the forum on court proceedings and how to deal with them in #2 of that thread0 -
No, that doesn't happen of you defend a claim even if lost. And we see 99% win here! The 'letter before claim' completely threw me off guard and I fear receiving a CCJ against my name which will no doubt affect my future.
Which parking firm then? Some never sue and only use these DRP and fake Gs letters.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
