Boiler ideal elan 2 problem

Hello,

I am renting house that has, Ideal elan boiler 2 in the kitchen and tan Łk upstairs with programmer. Technically everything works fine, we have hot water, and water is heating up as it's setup on the programmer. However every 10 minutes or so, boiler keeps firing up for like a minute and going off again. On programmer everything is off, no heating, no water heat up. Doesn't seems to be normal behaviour. Faulty boiler?

Its a pretty simple boiler, with no fancy electronic controls. In my opinion unlikely to be a boiler problem, but worth exploring:

1. Any frost protection thermostat. Could be set too high.
2. Motorised valves / wiring centre for faults / poor wiring.
3. Some other wiring issue, e.g. a poor connection.

Item 1. you could probably check yourself, the others would require a heating engineer.

As you are renting the landlord is obliged to provide a gas safety certificate, renewed annually. This is, in my view, particularly important given that the boiler is old and is an open flued device rather than a sealed flue type.

Funny enough, when I posted that, Landlord called me, that boiler man will come to check on boiler. And he is here now. We will see what he says

Unfortunately I sill know nothing. Guy that came didn't explain anything. Only checked that everything is fine and it is.

I am still trying to understand that boiler. For me it looks like it doesn't work on timer and only on thermostat, so whenever I use water it just keeps it hot all the time.
My timer doesn't show on light - only when current heating programm is on. I set it up for an hour a day, and I never tan out of hot water which is suspicious.
Programmer is very basic and not many options there, so I can't see how I can possibly change anything.
I turned off programmer just to see if I will run out of hot water, but any suggestions welcome.
