Install bathroom extractor fan

Hi All,
We just moved into a new property in South London and the bathroom has no extractor fan. A recent electrician has just quoted us £550 to install.
This includes drilling the hole to the external wall and fitting the fan/duct etc as well as the cost of the fan itself.
Seems fairly high but wanted to try and benchmark.
Thanks

It sounds high to me, but
- it's London
- how high is it? Will an access tower or cordoning off the pavement be needed?
- what is the internal finish? Tiles?
- how thick / what material is the wall? A brand-new property would normally already have an extractor fan
- what extra electrical work is needed
Core drilling a stone wall up here would be £100 to the bloke-with-a-core-drill
If it's a house it may be easier and cheaper to use a ceiling fan and duct through the loft to a soffit vent.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Thanks Owain
- it's London Yep and aware this adds a premium
- how high is it? Will an access tower or cordoning off the pavement be needed? Shouldn't be - end of terrace house, bathroom is upstairs
- what is the internal finish? Tiles? Tiles, yes - do you mind explaining how that makes a difference?

Way too high, even for London. Allow £350-£400. (presuming fan will be fixed to external wall and pipework straight out to exterior).0

rather difficult drilling a core hole through a ceramic tiled wall without cracking lots of tiles. Takes more time and skill.
1930s brick may be quite hard but should be drillable without too much difficulty. I had a 2' thick 1880s stone wall. That was fun.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I think Hover is the best extractor fan supplier in India.0
