    They then will typically let your current provider know they are taking over on x date, its not the buyers fault what your provider does with this info.
    It's a major issue!
    They don't own property, it's NOT their accounts they're messing with.

    I have spoken to TT and they have put a stop to the switch. Our gas company is trying to put a stop to the switch but they say it depends on how far it’s gone already. Waiting for the switching team to get back to me now.


    At least since your idiotic buyers have decided to fix the date before you move out, worst case they'll be paying your gas for a while. Very nice of them.

    As an aside, its shocking how anyone can apparently just call up and cancel your utility service!! How did your buyers they know you are with TT?
    They wouldn't have known - the purchasers would have decided who they wanted to use, signed up with them, and the new supplier would have looked up the existing supplier and told TT they were taking over on a set date. This works for broadband these days as well as utilities.

    The buyer should absolutely not be doing this, I agree!

    The Law Society Property Information Form completed by vendor asks for details of all utilities suppliers (including phone), location of meters etc so buyers would know.

    Agree with others though, buyers should take no action before exchange of contracts.
  • Very little I can add other than that the other posters are correct!

    Ask your EA/solicitor to contact the buyers and get them to rescind everything. It will be a headache but you should call your current suppliers and explain that exchange hasn't even taken place yet.
