I recently read a case study of a group of 6 disabled people pooling their direct payments together to form a business selling gift books, wrapping paper and cards.
Is this allowed under direct payments scheme?

I would think it wouldn't be allowed. Direct Payments are only to be used to fund care services.0

It can be used for many things like personal care, household tasks, short breaks, training for employment, but cannot be used for paying household bills, rent etc.

The direct payment must be used to meet the needs the local council/trust assessed you or the person you are looking after as having.

If you use the money for something not in the assessment you'll need to repay it. Can't see them assessing you as needing to set up a business!0
