Mazda 6 – Overruning – Turbo damage?

Engine management software makes a "Best Guess" at what's wrong when it throws up a fault code. It is frequently wrong.
I've just had problems on a twin turbo diesel, blue smoke and lack of power when pushing it, very low MPG and dreadful boy racer type dump valve noises whenever I lifted off the throttle.
fault codes? None. Pending fault code? Turbo boost.
Actual fault? Split intercooler hose. £17.50

I agree with the posts above to take the car to a better garage and that it may not be the turbo, I'd want a lot more confidence it's the actual fault particularly when the car isn't showing any symptoms of a turbo failure.
As Mazda6's do not appear to be big sellers I've found it difficult to find active forums for them, this is the best one I've used:

It's definitely worth asking there as there's more specific knowledge on the diesel engine and some of the likely issues.0
