iPad/windows 7/iTunes help please

I need some help desperatel! Son has an iPad mini and we back it up to icloud every day over internet. I want to sync it to the computer so we have a back up there to restore. We use windows 7 so downloaded iTunes but when I plug iPad in it’s getting his account details but there’s no way to sync. I also want to delete apps permanently from there but when I googled it said there should be an app tab and a list of all his apps. The app tab isn’t there. It’s driving me crazy. What am I doing wrong

The ability to manage apps via iTunes was removed some time ago. I suspect the guide you found is out of date.

There is one *possible* work around; it's iTunes for those users in Enterprise situations:

But as TadleyBaggie points out Apple removed this feature from iTunes 12.7 (and later) last year.
