Unit rates Standing Charges
Options
Hi
I did a Cheap Energy Club comparison.
Aside from the Standing Charge being 2p cheaper in comparison to my current provider, the unit rate was higher however supposedly I can make a saving.
I really don't get how that can be.
I also did a uSwitch comparison and both the unit rate and standing charge were higher than my current provider yet it says i would be making a saving.
Can anybody help?
If it helps
Electricity I am on:
12.90p/kWh
18.00p/day
Gas
2.84p/kWh
18.00p/day
In Oct I spent £32 on electricity and £51 on gas

To clarify, it assumes you will not switch at the end of your current tariff and calculates the remaining days of your current tariff plus the following days of the tariff you will be transferred to at the end of your current tariff to a total of 365 days. Complicated eh? That's the way OFGEM wants it to be done.
MSE CEC allows a comparison using three different calculations, 365 days at your current tariff rate, 365 days at the tariff rate you will be transferred to at the end of your current tariff and the Ofgem recommended over the next 365 days as uSwitch does it. Two of the calculation methods are immediately apparent at the top of the comparison and for the third expand "VIEW YOUR 12-MONTH PERSONAL PROJECTION".0
