    Good morning,

Champagne moment yesterday......popped to Mr T on the way home. Spotted a couple of ladies rummaging in the reduced section. They walked away tutting......I bagged pine nuts, garlic powder and big fat raisins for 40p each :j

Champagne moment Monday......Visit to the cinema with my French friend to see Colette. (My friend is legendary for getting free tickets). Good night out for free :j

    Have a lovely day :)
  • Not sure if I would call it a champagne moment but my iPhone decided to not work anymore. It's not even two years old! Over here, depending on the contract you've signed, you'll get a new phone for free (or just a small price) every two years. :o Oh well.

I could of course send it in but I don't have a back up phone and actually need it daily. Aaaaaand I know Apple, they will probably say something like "sorry, it can't be fixed". Guess I will spend 400 or more on a new phone :rotfl: Yay /sarcasm.

But in all honesty, this is what I save up for, the unexpected things that can easily (and quickly) build up. I've saved enough for it to not hurt too much but it's still a lot of money.

I've changed though, usually I would go for the new model but there's no way in hell I will spend 800 € on a phone :rotfl:

Let's hope this is the first - and last - big emergency that I have to pay for this year :T

I have thought about this a lot recently. I think I have been clinging to my possessions as if they were some kind of life raft......through 4 house moves in as many years, but they won't bring my husband back and I think they have been holding me back when really I need to move forward.

I couldn't do it before but I'm now ready. Really they are only "things" I will still have my memories.

So it's out with the old, to make room for the new. :D.

When I had to be firm with myself about releasing sentimental items, I took some photos of them before I decluttered. A few pictures don’t take up much space in a drawer (or on a memory card) and I get way you still sort of have th things to still look at.

LL, yes I am making the most of my Limitless Odeon card. There are just so many films that I wanted to see and now I have the time and the luxury of watching them all, rather than having to wait for a good deal or Silver Screen tickets to make it affordable for me. :D

My champagne moment today was another trip to my local Odeon to watch the film The First Man and it was a real revelation to me, as it documents how space travel was so high on the Government's agenda in the USA in the 1960's and in later decades. There were many errors along the way and the human loss of life was appalling. The film focuses on the family life of Neil Armstrong as well as his journey to becoming an Astronaut and ultimately one of the men in the 1st moon landing. I really liked the fact that you get an in depth look into the Neil Armstrong's life and his personality. I was not expecting to love this film so much. I would give this film 9.5/10

One of the fascinating things that struck me was how small and slight a lot of astronauts are. My husband and I were lucky enough to watch a space shuttle launch and then meet with a bunch of astronauts at the space centre.

I couldn't help but think that a lot of them seemed small, frail and almost shrivelled. I am 5ft 6 and I towered above some of them. I guess it's all that training in zero gravity maybe leading to some kind of muscle atrophy. I don't know. Or maybe it was just a coincidence. At any rate they definitely weren't big strapping men.

Well I am done for. I have worked like a demon so now it's time to snuggle up and Hygge.......

    Good morning,

Sugarbaby We really enjoyed The First Man too. A good story......DH is very keen on 'Space', so have been to NASA a few times. We have tickets for a talk by Helen Sharma and we have seen Chris Hadfield speak. Astronauts are very different, exceptional people.

LL Very envious. We sat on the beach waiting for a Shuttle Launch, but it was cancelled due to a hurricane warning.

Champagne moment for yesterday.......I got XXL gamonsteaks in Lidl and we had them for tea with eggs from our own hens and HM wedges. :D

    Have a lovely day :)

My friend and I booked a weekend in York! Overnight ferry Rotterdam-Hull (with proper beds in a cabin), busride to York, 1 night in a hotel, and ferry back to Rotterdam for €160 each. We will bring snacks and breakfast to have on the boat, and will buy something in York for the way back. I've started a list with things to do, see, and buy there :)

Ooh I love York...so much to see and do. Have a fab time.

Ouch to the phone, Butterfly. You are right, we need to always expect the unexpected, there's always something to demand our money and/or attention.

CJ. Thanks for the taking photos tip for hard to part with items. Great idea.

Well last night was a lovely champagne moment. Having got rid of a side board, a coffee table and switching a busy patterned rug for a plain one, adding improved lighting, some different ornaments, plants and a big chunky scented candle I really enjoyed my new pared down cosy sitting room. Very Hygge.

Going to tackle the kitchen today and Load the car with more "stuff".

Last antibiotic last night. Nausea finally lifted so back to healthy eating and try and shift some weight.

My real champagne moment will be when I drop a couple of dress sizes. :rotfl:
  • Today was definitely a champagne moment kind of day. Thanks to the contracts I've had signed I only paid 99 € for the new phone instead of 400  :money:
