It is sad that society is still racist, even though I do think Britain is on the whole fairly tolerant, compared to the US particularly. My first two boyfriends were mixed race and we used to get some stares and comments from people on the street back then.
My brothers last girlfriend was an Asian Muslim and she got a ridiculous amount of verbal abuse on the streets. Shocking. We have a long way to go as human beings.

Anyway champagne moments. I was remembering one of my boyfriends from when I was a teenager. He was gorgeous. He looked like a young Will Smith.
I wonder what he is up to now...
I am wearing a deep pink Warehouse blouse today as I was going to donate it but my husband said it looks nice on me so I will keep it.
I had a long, hot shower and did a hair treatment earlier. It was nice and relaxing. I'm actually not minding the cooler weather as I don't really like hot weather. I'm just listening to music on YouTube. NERD at the moment.

Hear hear Sugarbaby. That was a very eloquent post. My son went to the London protest. All the photos he took show people wearing masks, and he did not see any violence (he was in Parliament Square), only some shouting at the police. He said the way they handled it was amazing compared to the reports we have of police in the US charging demonstrators and using teargas.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget4

Thank you, mrs_s
The plants here definitely benefited from the rain - but very glad we took the time to stake stuff well beforehand as it was pretty gusty too. Still only about half the David Austins in bloom, although the bare roots are coming on amazingly well!
We took advantage of the less salubrious weather over the weekend and spent some time indoors working on the demolition/reconfiguration of the upstairs layout - not terribly *champagne* but we've certainly saved a fortune (as usual, lol!) by tackling it ourselves. Our new master bedroom at the back is going to be so much improved on the old one at the front!
DH cooked a very good curry on Saturday and we finally watched the excellent Fishermen's Friends.
Yesterday I had only my second actual shopping experience (as opposed to an outside plant nursery) since lockdown started when we went to buy some F&B/Little Greene paint samples from our nearest Leekes store. It was surprisingly pleasant with no queuing, few customers and seemed almost *normal*
Treated ourselves to a new (copper) dualit toaster in the clearance sale to replace our old cream one which I bought second hand on fleabay years ago
Back to sunshine today, so have been dividing my time between some weeding/dead-heading and moving boxes etc inside.....
In less than champagne worthy news, it looks as though we're going to have to take the joiner to the small claims court......grrr!
Attached are a couple of my favourite blooms of the moment - the best of the Sarah Bernhardt peonies and Frances E Lester over the porch.....Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Britain is NOT tolerant. Just because people of different races and cultures live in the UK, that does not make the UK less racist.I was born in South London, my children were born in the UK, as were my grandchildren, my future great grandchildren will likely also be born here. But I despair that no matter how long my life is, I will never live in a UK that is not racist, so that no matter how many generations of my family I live to see, they too will have far too may racist encounters, subtle or overt and racial microaggressions to live through.
