Help Needed with VW/BCA Car Lease Return
Comments

OP why didn't you take it to a BCA site instead of a VW dealer?0
-
I didn’t get a firm collection date, the BCA operative said it would be ‘in the next few days’ when I spoke to them.
And as to why I didn’t take it to a BCA, it was they who suggested dropping at a VW dealership when I mentioned that I wouldn’t be in the country on the collection date. If I’d known the BCA option then I would certainly have done that but I was only given the VW garage option.0 -
Question; did you get an inspection sheet from BCA when your car was looked at? this will prove you were handing it back in good time.
Im assuming the manager at the VW garage spoke to BCA regarding you dropping the car off there, and you didn't just dump the car at the garage and drop the keys on the nearest desk. This arrangement is the key. Why did the garage let the car sit for a month?
Post #3 is the way to go.0 -
Yes, I did get an inspection sheet confirming the car was fine. The mileage will price that the car wasn’t used after this date (except to get it to the garage).
The service manager at the garage who I spoke to and agreed the drop off actually left the dealership at some stage after I dropped it off - which may have not helped the issue.
But I still don’t understand how no-one picked anything up as the car wasn’t insured and I stopped payments as soon as dropped off. Do BCA not have a duty of care to VW to ensure vehicles are collected after lease expiry?
Thanks all.0 -
I think insuring the car until collection was your responsibility. I dropped my car with Audi dealer for BCA collection and was told by the dealer that they don't take responsibility for it and I still have to insure it until BCA collects it.
BCA gave me collection date and I checked with dealer that car was collected.
BCA dropped the ball and you dropped the ball by not confirming that car was collected. It's also strange that dealer wasn't bothered by the car sitting in their yard.
If person who agreed to it, is not working at dealership any longer, it will be extremely difficult to prove anything. Did you to talk to anyone else since then to establish why no one was interested in abandoned car?
I don't know how can you wriggle out of extra £1000 payment. You could probably fight damage fees with report you have.
Have you opened complaint with BCA?0
