As an alternative idea and in true Money saving style I just bought a second hand Linksys WAG200g off ebay for £18 all-in and have to say I am chuffed to bits with it! A slightly older model now but it has worked flawlessly so far with a strong signal (I can walk a good distance from my house before I lose a signal on my phone!) and dead easy 5 minutes to set up!
You will need an Network port on you pc as mentioned above some have them built in if not you will have to get a card for it..

Hi, As an ex pipex person, I recommend Bethere, and you get a loan ADSL2 router free, so no worries if it goes faulty. Their support is quick too. When I last looked at Pipex, they did not have ADSL2, so a router that is pure ADSL2 will be of no use to you.

I've a colleague that used the usb Netgear key (stick, fob, pen etc) as per link and found it very unreliable. When it did work, its range was not that great. Their routers are very good though.
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)

Many thanks once again for all your help, it's much appreciated. I may need help once I bought the wireless router/modem if it doesn't set up according to instructions. Off to purchase a Netgear as mentioned in an earlier post, but I will go through quidco, well this is a money saving site after all, considering the Dell laptop was free with a mobile phone contract, (It cost £49.99, but I got £50.00 cashback from Quidco for using Car Phone warehouse), so a free laptop and I've got to say to say it seems very good, and considering my Daughter will only be using it for homework, and not gaming, its a very MSE Christmas here.
