Can you get pension credits as well as ESA at the same time?

No. People used to have a choice if they were over Pension Credit age but below pension age of having either Pension Credit or ESA and were usually better off on Pension Credit if there ESA would have been income based.
However as there is now no difference between Pension Credit age and Pension age the choice no longer exists anyway. ESA is a working age benefit and Pension Credit is a Pension age benefit.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

Can you claim CB ESA and pension credit?
No. As the second paragraph of my previous post says ESA is a working age benefit, Pension Credit is a Pension age benefit. You cannot be both of working age and of pension age so you are eligible for one or the other depending on age and subject to meeting the other qualifying conditions.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated.
