TFL PCN wrong number plate
hello guys
I recieved a loading bay ticket by tfl, I tried going into the TFL site to appeal on the basis that the ticket says i had 20 minutes to load or unload however the issueing officer has stated he observed my vehicle for 5 minutes but i couldnt do the appeal because the officer has writin my vehicle reg wrong so when i put my real registration in the site it doesnt find the pcn because im assuming there system is holding the same registration as what the office put on the ticket which was:
xxBxxxxx (8 digits with added "B" in the middle) instead of xxxxxxx ( the actual 7 digit plate)
I have appealed a pcn in the same bay for the following reason
"The bay is actually right next to my business and actually i was loading when this was issued the reason the TFL officer doesnt see loading/unloading activity is because my fridges are in the basment so when i bring the frozen goods down into the shop i have to place in them in the freezer before they thaw. This is for health and safety purposes."
I also sent them an invoice of purchases i made that morning and i won the appeal.
Now im wondering in this situation should i
A) Just sit back and relax as the reg number is wrong.
I have been told that because the pcn was issued incorrectly they cannot look at the picture and re-issue. is this true?
Try and contact them another way explain actually yes this pcn does belong to me and they made a mistake with the reg but actually it shouldnt of been issued becaouse of the reasons i wrote above and actually i wasnt there for more then the prescribed 20minutes for that bay?
Any advise would help naturally i really would prefer the route of least work but i also dont want to end up shooting myself in the foot.
Thank you

If they got the wrong reg and your vehicle isn't actually booked because of this then I'd just leave it. Their loss.0

If the system has the wrong reg., how did they find your name and address?0

Don't think they have. I read it as a windscreen ticket which the OP has tried to appeal online.0 -

sorry for not making it clear. It was a windscreen ticket in the loading bay. by the time i come up from the basement the officer had issued the ticket and left.0 -
So basically im just going to sit back and relax.
i take it if they where to look at the photos they cant re-isse the ticket under correct Reg?0 -
Yes, they can.i take it if they where to look at the photos they cant re-isse the ticket under correct Reg?
Human error happens, and the law allows for it. It can be shown it was your vehicle, and that the error was in transposition rather than identification.
You don't say whether you were on a red route or not, but the basic principles are the same.
https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/red-routes/rules-of-red-routes/loading-for-the-public
You should be loading and unloading continuously. 5 minutes away from the vehicle in a 20 minute bay is taking the mickey.
This is clearly a regular process for you - yet you seem to have been ill-prepared for it. Was there really no way that you could have prepared better - perhaps by having a staff member ready to take the frozen goods away from you? If a couple of minutes extra to take the food into the freezer makes a substantive difference in food safety, then I presume you're using a vehicle with specialist adaptations to keep the food frozen in transport? Can you not use insulated containers to help protect the food during transfer? Frozen food does not thaw if left for just a couple of minutes.0 -
So he transports frozen food in the back of a car that has been out of the cold chain so long that it is a rush to get it back in the freezer before it defrosts? Remind me not to eat at his restaurant or whatever it is.1

What was the outcome? I received a PCN this morning from TFL with one letter in my number plate wrong. I’m not sure if I should leave it or pay it. I checked online with the number plate of the ticket and they have pictures of my car parkedBulli79 said:hello guys

I think we can take a good guess as to the outcome of that situation - given that there are no 8-character UK reg plates, so it was clearly an error, and the issue of the ticket will have been documented by photo... as yours is.n00ri said:
