My autoaid policy coming to an end so have been looking at alternatives. Came accross startrescue.

Anyone used start rescue? As good/bad as Autoaid?

Autoaid covers 2 people if they are married/co habiting etc

Start Rescue offers both options (personal or vehicle)

I am a start rescue customer. Not had to call them out so can't comment on that part of the experience but I have been a customer for several years.

The app the policy runs through is extremely clear and easy to use. Changing vehicles on cover is effortless although any vehicle added has a 24 waiting time before cover starts. If you have more than one car you can add the additional cars to the policy at any time and they just charge for time on cover to end of the current policy.

Mid level cover for both my cars, one of which is an older vehicle costs less than half of the price rac or green flag wanted for my newer car.

Last time I checked Autoaid technically requires a marriage certificate, Or so they said when I called to ask about wifes Maiden vs Married name on the policy.

No longer need to be married. But must be able to provide evidence of living together

I’m confused now (although have to say Quentin is always right).
I’d take civil partner to me someone that has a formal civil partnership.

Begs the question though, why not just get married?

Thanks for the responses so far. As a current Autaid customer I'm aware of the spouse/partner etc issue.

I was more interested in response times, cutomer service etc from those who may have used both companies and how they compare.

    Thanks

I've called out Autoaid several times over 20 years. Once a failed water pump, another a clutch failure. They use a network of local contractors. About 1 hour response time. With recoveries they seem to pay the contractor directly. With a home start once I reclaimed the cost after using my own local mechanic. Autoaid have been easy to deal with.

Not used Start Rescue, looks like they were the first to copy Autoaid's insurance based idea. Start appear to have been in business for 4 years. Might consider them next time.
