Phone + Internet packages/VOIP query

Hi
Seriously thinking about moving my internet provider (plus.net) to another provider and as part of this was considering if I could save some money by having calls included as part of the package.
Can't have Virgin in my area, so was considering Be for the internet access. Was just wondering about whether I should go for a package which offers free phone calls as part of the internet package. Not really too fussed about having Sky TV, and would like an 8mb line with no restrictions ideally or set to 20gb+ download. What does everyone do, just get the internet access and use VOIP for cheaper calls or do a package? Currently with BT Option 1, so line rental £10.50 a month. Total BT bill every quarter (inc line rental) is about £45-£50.
Any ideas appreciated!
Cheers

Cut your telephone call costs - see the 'HERE' link in my signature below.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Heinz, that's a very useful guide - thanks. Looks like I'll just be moving my internet over and using your steps to get cheaper/free calls - thanks.0
