Car insurance increase

Admiral have sent us an email reminding us to renew our car insurance:

This Year's Premium - £2,957.92
Last Year's Premium - £1,487.63

Car is 2 year old Nissan Leaf.

I know one doesn't get rewarded for loyalty, but this is madness. We claimed on the insurance for work which meant replacing the back wing. Basically we are being asked to pay the insurance provider back the money they paid on our behalf. I know insurance is a legal requirement, but other than that I see no reason for it.

Is every other insurance provider going to charge us the same?

If you were allowed to drive without insurance and your next incident involved major life changing injury to an innocent third party you would be unhappy to be left owing £millions!

You are now considered to be a higher risk plus you will have lost two years NCB .
You have had an accident and as such will pay more.
If you don't want your insurance to go up make sure you don't have an accident.
    Simples!

This premium is way above average. Will be based on the insurer's perception of risk.

Worth looking at other insurers, as premium vary - sometimes significantly - between insurers.
