Comet - After sales fiasco

I bought a mobile phone for my younger sis last September. Just recently it developed a fault where she couldn't hear callers when making or receiving calls. I took it into Comet where it was bought and they sent it away to be repaired. Five days later it came back and when i got it home the fault hadn't been fixed, despite a work report saying they'd replaced the Audio Flex and tested it to spec.
Last weekend i took it back to the store and was served by the Security Guard - i know! He spoke to the manager and she said that it had to be sent away to be repaired again. I explained that it hadn't been fixed the first time and that it was unfair to leave my sis without her phone for a further week or so. She wouldn't budge and point blank refused to offer an identical replacement, which is all she wanted after the bother. The manager gave me the number for Virgin and said they might be able to resolve the situation. I rang Virgin and they were fab - my sis got her replacement today.
I think Comet are a shambles and i'd never buy anything from them again. Instead of taking some responsibility for the problem, they'd obviously made their money from selling the phone and they were no longer interested. Well done Virgin though, v impressed :j

comet are a nightmare, their customer service is non existent and I would never ever buy from them again, however cheap they are.
I bought a VCR that was faulty, took it back and was told it wasn't covered by a replacement guarantee as it was 30 days old and their replacement cover only lasted for 28 days from purchase. Trouble is I had put it to one side for a month as I was waiting for my lounge to be decorated before installing my new equipment.Told me it had to go away but if the fault could not be found then I would be liable for any repair charges.
I refused to send it away as a woman in the queue told me she was virtually camping out at Comet as they had her TV for 4 months and still hadn't repaired it.
I spoke to Trading Standards who assured me that a 30 day old VCR should be exchanged, or at least repaired in a given time frame so I went back. Again they refused to help me, told me that my VCR would be gone for weeks if I let them repair it. When I told them i wouldn't leave without a replacement or a guaranteed date for repair was told I was banned from the shop as I was a nuisance.
Took me three months of argument with help from trading standards to get a repair man to call on me, told me that the machine was technically not capable of working due to build quality. Repair man called head office who called the store and met me at the door and took the VCR and gave me a credit note for a new one. I just bought the first one I saw and left, never to go back again.

They were great after Christmas. My son was given a personal CD player as a present, but when he got it out the packaging, it was broken. We didn't get round to returning it till after New Year due to the business of the season, and waiting for the reciept from the giver.
Comet were very apologetic. They checked but didn't have any stock of the broken CD player in, and had little stock left in the shop. Even though it was busy, the store manager took the time to show my son some different CD players and helped him pick an alternative one. I couldn't fault the service. Here I go again on my own....0
