What Do I Do Now?

Hi,

I placed an order with Salon's Direct in Birkenhead (Wirral) on 1st October for goods for my Nail Salon. I didn't recieve the order before I went away on holiday on 11th October but presumed this was down to the postal strikes and that they would attempt to deliver whilst I was away. Apparantly it should have been delivered by Parcel Force so would not have been affected by the postal strikes but I didn't know a the time or I would have rang about it.

Upon checking after my holiday, the money left my account but still no parcel. I telephoned the company who are claiming that Parcel force did indeed deliver it!! There is no parcel, no red card to say they have left it any where. I might as well knock my head into a brick wall. Salon's Direct refuse to refund my money as they say if Parcel Force say they have delivered it they must have - I waited in all day yesterday as Parcelforce were meant to be coming to "interview" me about the parcel. PArcel Force are not forth coming with the signed piece of paper - I have requested to see this on several occasions.

I am at the end of my tether - I have been a loyal customer for more than 5 years and have spent in the region of 10k with this company - what should I do now? Pleaser help!!!

How did you pay? Credit card? What was the value? This has been dragging on for too long.Could you email salons direct and tell them as the courier did not turn up for the interview,it would be sensible for parcelforce conduct the interview over the phone,in the first instance, and they need to arrange this for you?
  • I'd be interested in how that interview goes. If they can't show you a signature then surely they'll have to refund you.

I've had some problems with parcelforce myself. Most recently they were delivering three separate parcels all sent from the same company. The first I signed for. The second they claimed I had signed for but the delivery guy actually just used the same signature as for the first parcel as it was delivered several days later when I wasn't even at home. I discovered it was just left with a neighbour who luckily gave it to me. They claimed there was no third parcel, but then after several calls to both the sender and to parcel force it magically appeared in one of their warehouses and was delivered two weeks late.

I suppose you just need to be persistent. Stay calm and polite, but be firm and determined. Sorry I can't be of more help.
  • Hi - Thanks for your replies.

I paid for this order over the net with my maestro. It came to £84.91.

They are adamant it was delivered to a girl through the window (The girl is my sister - also my business partner who worked whilest I was away. She did take deliveries of 2 other parcels, one was vista print, the other eBay - None from Salon's Direct. I work from home and have the salon in the front of my house - we almost ALWAYS take deliveries through the window on a daily basis, sometimes 2 or 3 a day - and Parcel Force have delivered to us many times this way. They're trying to make the delivery sound "unique" so they can claim they "remember" it - when in reality - having a deliverey though the window is nothing unusual for us!)

At first, we were told that it could have been left with a neighbour and could we go and look fo it! I said no as I don't hink it's my place to have to go and search for my parcel as they hadn't delivered a red card to say which neighbour it was with!

I have even asked Lou (my sister) if there was any chance she had mislaid it!! But no, all the mail/parcels were left on a table for me.

Is there any chance someone who came into the house could have taken the parcel?
  • NO, none whatsoever. We only had a few select clients whilest I was away, people we knew well as it was her first time "managing" on her own.

They should be able to provide you with a tracking number for the item, then check on the PF website for a signature - but to be honest you don't need to deal with PF. Your contract is with the supplier, who they use to deliver is their choice and their problem - don't get drawn into arguments with PF. Just ask the supplier to provide evidence of the delivery or resend/refund. It looks like there has never been a signature for this item and you are being fobbed off by a customer service dept that knows nothing.
