PCN-Final Reminder

Hi all,

I appreciate that I am asking at the last hour but grateful for any advice. I got a PCN and NTK after getting a "notice" on my windscreen asking me to log onto myparkingcharges I thought it was a scam as it didn't look official and did nothing apart from a bit of research. I then got the PCN and NTK 6 days after the "offence". I then received a Final Reminder and have to pay by 12th Nov. I have read the newbie sticky and am left a little confused and feel that I am just going to pay as it appears to be the path of least resistance. Should I do this or can anybody advise me on next steps? Appreciate the late request but any advice is welcomed.

"The path of least resistance" yes that's just what these scammers like their victims to take.


What exactly are you confused about?
What was your dastardly crime?
Who are they asking you to pay?


No one on here would suggest you pay a scam.

Whats tricky to understand about "send the appeal in blue"?

I parked in a layby opposite some football pitches on a Saturday morning. No double yellow lines and wasn't blocking anyone but there was signs up but I felt they were for the yellow lines that were nearby. The official contravention Reason is listed as:

)81 parked in a restricted/prohibited area

They are asking me to pay £100 as it is now too late to appeal and not sure what to send to who.

And just for further clarification what do they mean by appeal box as I though that you should not log in myparkingcharges as the IP address will be known? Also how do you "sign off" the letter as presumably you should not give away your name?

Re PCN number:

I dispute your 'parking charge', as the keeper of the vehicle. I deny any liability or contractual agreement. There will be no admissions as to who was driving and no assumptions can be drawn.

Since your PCN is a vague template, I require all photos taken, a clear image of the signage and an explanation of the allegation (e.g. if you have identified a wrong VRN input at a machine, say so, and explain why your Data Protection Officer has not simply rectified it, rather than trying to punish a driver for a matter where there is nothing to deter).

I will be making a formal complaint about your predatory conduct to your client landowner and to my MP, appraising all parties of the debate where Parliament agreed: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists...should not have to put up with this''. Firms of your ilk were unanimously condemned as operating an 'outrageous scam' (Hansard 2.2.18). The BPA & IPC were heavily criticised; hardly surprising for an industry where so-called AOS members admit to letting victims 'futilely go through the motions' of appeal and that 'we make it up most of the time' (BBC Watchdog).

I am just going to pay as it appears to be the path of least resistance.

Bear in mind, if you do pay that an MP in the House of Commons recently stated that me of these companies may have links to organised crime.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week, hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. It has even been suggested that some of these companies have links with organised crime.

Watch the video of the Second Reading and committee stage in the House of Commons recently. MPs have a very low opinion of this industry.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by in the not too distant future..
