Fence the wrong height

The panels will be reusable unless they had to cut any.
How many posts will they need to replace?0 -
There are five posts (two are together at a 45 degree corner), two complete panels and one panel they had to cut into three pieces because of the side length and a short return at one end.
I assume the posts are useless once they're securely stuck into the ground, so they may only be able to recover about £60 worth of around £200 materials if they ripped it out and did it again.0 -
Could the situation be saved by adding 1ft of trellis to the top of the fence. The posts would need to extended perhaps with metal post extenders or using battens.0
-
The trellis is a good idea, and it did cross my mind earlier, but it would defeat the object of the fence being tall enough for privacy - plus apparently it makes it easier to climb over.
Just now I've had a text message apologising for the mix-up and that they will be here in the morning. Presumably to make good rather than batter me. This could be turned right around.0 -
I just wanted to follow up no this and say thank you for the advice offered by those who replied. The fencers did come back and were able to recover the concrete posts and panels for another job, so all was not lost for them. They just wasted another morning but they did make it right.0

Good result....for you at any rate!0

Good result, and a company that you could use again now that you know they will put their mistakes right.:T0 -
A 6 foot fence isnt difficult to climb over for anybody with reasonable upper body strength, ie probably the vast majority of people you are concerned about. A 5 foot fence with trellis/vegetation could be more difficult proposition due to the trellis being less stable and potentially noisy if broken.
That aside, glad it has been resolved for you.0
