I know exactly what you are going through and i am a real worrier too. When mine were small (they are nearly 8 & 10 now) they seemed to get everything going, especially my eldest who suffers from really bad asthma. It is very worrying but its their way of building up immunity.

Big hugs. If it get too much for you, we are all here for support.

My daughter is allergic to amoxcyllin. She used to get tonsilitis all the time so had to have erythromycin (query spelling), as the amoxcyllin made her come out in a rash and generally unwell. If your child has been taking amoxycillin, then i would suggest you go back to your doctor and ask if your child might have a reaction and could try a different antibiotic next time.

  • yes, it's a shame the doctor didn't see the rash while you were on holiday.

we had the same with my boy although he had already had one course of amoxycillin without getting a rash, it was the second lot that caused a rash, insomnia, irritability etc.

the doc gave him erythmomycin instead and 6 weeks later when he was in hospital having IV antibiotics they found alternatives for him because they didn't want to give him penicillin.

we were told that we shouldn't panic or assume penicillin allergy though because there was a virus around at the time that caused a rash like that.

Being a single parent with sick children is exhausting.

I offer no advice except that I understand and try to look after yourself as much as you can - forget the housework and concentrate on you and the kids.
