Dividing a bedroom with one window

Hi all looking on advice on how to split a bedroom that has one window. Because of the layout the divide would be better through where the window is. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this. Please note things that can be climbed e.g. ikea units would not be suitable as my LO loves to climb.
Thanks

Welcome to MSE.
Depending on the location of the room/ layout of the house and size of the opening part(s) of the window, a 'permanent' division may not be legal or safe. Each habitable room usually requires a window for ventilation (condensation and mould) and/ or as a fire escape.
You may need to enlarge the window and/ or increase the fire protection of the rooms to meet Building Regulations. There will be more information on the Plaaning Portal (online).Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Just around the corner from me is a house that was converted into two a few years ago.
The front bedroom was divided into two by a fixed partition that runs from the back wall and meets the middle of the bay window at the front.
Looks horrible and bodgy.0 -

what looks horrible and "bodgy" might be done out of necessity. Some people cant afford to move and they feel they really need separate bedrooms especially if you have a large room and young kids!
It should be doable only if you have large window which can open fully in each room.0 -
Do you want to actually split it into two bedrooms or to create two spaces - say sleeping and play or study ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

A bit more information would probably be helpful, e.g.
- How exactly does the window look like? (size, where/how can it be opened, etc.)
- Would it be an option to replace the window? (e.g. there are 3-panel windows, where you can open the left and right panel, while the middle one can't be opened)
- What's the intended use of the rooms?
- What exactly do you mean by "dividing" when you think about ikea shelves? Just a "design" divide (like a shelf) or a proper divide (e.g. putting in a studwork-plasterboard wall?)

Remove existing window, brick up the middle, then build a stud wall in the room meeting it. Put a smaller window in on either side.0
