Wrapping Paper... Is there another way?

  • I use gift bags and tissue paper which I buy really cheaply from the pound shops in the January sales. I got something like 30 bags this year for £3. I buy a pack of cheap baubles to go with the bags and tie these on to bags instead of bows. Not only does it mean I can get all my christmas wrapping done very quickly - (no fiddling with scissors, sellotape etc) - the bags get reused by the recipients and the baubles end up on the Christmas trees.

I have a big bag with various bits of small pieces of new wrapping paper and some used bits which I normally rake through first before I use any of my rolls of wrapping paper.

I also have about 6 rolls of X’mas wrapping paper (5 good quality, 1 ok quality -all brought for 50p or less in the January sales from the last 2 years) and 1 roll of red shiny (looks a bit like foil) paper.

    Today I have wrapped:
sister 1's present (used tissue paper which was used to wrap a necklace given to me a couple of years ago and put inside a new X’mas bag which was a lot of Xmas bag samples sent for in 2004)
sister 1's fiance's presents (used a sheet of Baileys gift wrap & tag I got sent from Baileys in 2005 or 2006 and some new offcut wrapping paper from last X’mas)
sister 1's fiance's birthday present (few days after X'mas) reused some good quality birthday paper taken from my big bag.

sister 2's present – opened a roll of Boots good quality wrapping paper brought in January sales.
    sister 2's boyfriend's presents – as above.

sister 3 (put 1 item into a gift bag – again a free sample from 2004).
