About 16-17 years ago when I lived with my parents the company I worked for then had reps that worked around the country and would have to stay at hotels when they visited head office.


I was looking at buying a place near head office and was told that there was a scheme if I brought a place with a additional bedrooms the company could help me buy it, in return for them being able to use the additional bedrooms for the employees to stay in as and when required.


I never proceeded with this as my circumstances changed. They have changed again and I am now back on my own looking at buying a place.


The company I work for now, also have reps located around the country that are currently staying in hotels.


Before I look into this avenue, can anyone tell me if I was actually dreaming all those years ago or if it is an option I have available?


If not is the only other option to offer the room for rent to the company.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.


Such a scheme might exist, but it would be a private arrangement between you and the employer. This is not a national / government scheme.

I am aware of schemes where whole properties are rented to a company and used for their employees but I have never heard of it being on a lodging basis.

I would have thought if these things did exist years ago they are probably long gone now as hotel accommodation changed with the introduction of Travelodge/premier inns etc...

budget hotel stay is probably just as cheap as is serviced apartments there would be little need perhaps for the type of thing you describe
The logistics of having a stranger in the house might bother some also.....


You could always open a B&B.

I know that the NHS still maintains some serviced accommodation. And many trusts are selling this off; such a scheme could be beneficial to both parties.
