I think you could argue that there is more admin involved in sendin discs out for the 6 monthers as it involves more paper, more ink, mosr stuff for posties to hurl around, more pollution. Could go on.

Maybe the hike in price for a 6 month disc is to put people off doing it.

If you can't afford to tax your car for 12 months then why not buy some Post Office saving stamps once a week or once a month. This is what I do when I'm posting off stuff I've sold on ebay. Get a fivers worth every week.

i dont mean the actual VED just the admin charge,have it as a standard charge added on after the initial VED for 6 months.

Can't buy 6 months tax for the smallest of my motorcycles - just 498cc and only available with 12 months tax at just £48. The same 10% premium as cars is added on to the larger bikes if you buy 6 months tax - £36.30 vs £66.
